OutBack East Wall

It was ten years before we got to this section of the project. Ten years of our long-suffering neighbor, Martha, staring at that raggedy, neglected expanse.

In 2020, in the midst of other projects, we attacked the wall. We worked so hard and fast, it seems, that we never even took photos of the work as we went along, so there’s some visual gaps in here.

The first thing I had to do was frame in the five windows, an exhaust vent for the upstairs bath, and a spot for a (future) vent for a gas stove for the living room.

The rooms on the first and second floor had the walls reframed for windows.

A small window opening was added to the East gable end of the attic.

Windows were built

Scaffolding went up. Siding went on. We played in our Happy Place.

And by the end of August, the wall was complete, though still dressed in scaffolding.
