Interior Renovation

Here I describe renovation that was done on the “live-in” part of the house, while we were living in it.

Bedroom 2

The second bedroom had an unfinished mural and other painting. I wish I had a photo of the yin/yang flaming skull, it was not something we wanted to sleep under. It served as Judy’s sewing rom for a while, and then the valances (?) were torn out and the room got a paint job.

Kitchen & Dining

The kitchen and dining area got an immediate paint job and the light fixture we’d brought with us…

but the first real change was when we pulled out the refrigerator and broke through the wall into the outback as part of the Side Porch Area project.

Since then, we’ve added furniture and lived in it. It’s waiting for a future grand renovation.

the “Green Room”

We think this room off the kitchen must have originally been a dining room. At some point space was chopped out for a downstairs bathroom, then that was expanded for fittings for a washer and dryer. When we got it, it was decked out in purple. Check out the curved door.

The washer/dryer fittings were torn out, the walls were primed.

Judy painted and papered the room with elegant wallpaper, and made drapes. An Eastlake seat finished the look. We call her “Mrs. Eastlake”.

Hallway and Stairs

We don’t know when, but the hallway had been trimmed out with Lincrusta, a 19th-century material that looks like carved leather. The walls were grey.

We kept the Lincrusta.

Judy chose a yellow striped wallpaper for the 2-storey wall and a muted yellow for the rest.

The entrance hall ceiling light came from the ReStore. Upstairs, a reading nook fits above the stairway.
